Worshipful Masters Message

My Brethren this past Sunday thru Wednesday (May 28-31) I had the pleasure of attending the One Hundred Seventy-seventh Annual Grand Communications of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Florida as your Worshipful Master. What an honor, along with your elected officers and brethren from our lodge for a total of 15 members in attendance.

As we departed on Sunday afternoon to Grand Lodge I began to realize that six month had passed me by and that my year was almost coming to an end. We as a lodge have accomplished so much to our building and membership.

I am also proud to say that four of our brothers have been given Grand Lodge Appointments and 1 Elected officer,

R\W\ Joe Fleites Senior Grand Warden of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Florida

R\W\ Joe Martin, State Chairman for the Grand Lodge Properties Committee

R\W\ Michael C.  Green, District Deputy Grand Master of the 34th Masonic District

R\W\ Robert Kerr, Zone 10 MH100, Let Your Pennies Make Good Cents and Wills and Gifts Chairman

Renovations are full speed ahead, let me bring you up too date. We have signed a contract to begin work on remodeling the kitchen, the fire system is up to code, new chairs have been ordered and the parking lot has been paved. If all goes well we should have everything ready for the 4th of July Breakfast . We will be serving breakfast from 8:00am till about 10:30am. Stop by and see your lodge brothers. I hope too see you there.

We will be exemplifying a Fellow Craft degree this month, Brother Hakan Bilimlier will preside in the East. Our Senior Warden will be sitting in the East next time for the Entered Apprentice Degree. He presided in the East this past week for the first time and did an outstanding job as he prepares himself for next year.

I also want to thank our Senior Warden Dave Cockrell for all the work he has done to get all the contracts for the kitchen done, Thanks Dave!!!

Bring a Brother to Lodge Next Time You Come.

Thank You Brothers,

I Saw The Light

When I was raised in Oleeta Lodge eleven years ago, I had no idea what Masonry had in store. All I knew was that I was continuing a tradition that started in my family many generations ago. My Grandfather, Herman Roudenbush instilled in me the importance of Masonry and the ideal of making good men better. Taking his love for his fraternity to heart, it was never a question of would I become a Mason, but when?

On the night I was raised, I remember the late R:.W:. Paul Richman issuing a challenge to myself and the other newly raised Masons. He challenged us to be active in Masonry and reminded us that that more we put into the fraternity, the more we would get out of it. That night, I was placed in the Junior Deacon’s chair and began my progression to the East. I was elected Worshipful Master three short years later. Unfortunately, my grandfather passed away before I was elected to the East. But, I thought it fitting to dedicate my year in memory of him because of the positive influence he had on me.

In the years since I left the East, I have served six terms as Lodge Secretary, several committee/zone appointments, and as Chairman of the Masters & Wardens Association. My appointment now as District Deputy Grand Master of the 34th Masonic District comes as a tremendous honor to me. I am humbled that my Brothers have chosen me for this position of leadership and responsibility. My Committeemen are a capable group of Masons who like myself are looking forward to serving you in the upcoming year.

Being active in Masonry has been a lot of work, but the reward of knowing and working with such an outstanding group of Brothers has made the experience a true pleasure. I extend the challenge to you that R:.W:. Richman issued to me. Be active in Masonry and remember that that more you put into the fraternity, the more you will get out of it. Remember that the greatest title that a Mason can ever hold is Brother.

R\W\Mike Green

DDGM of the 34th Masonic District
